Description
Embody the Grace and Beauty of a Bird in Flight.
Soaring Crane Qigong is a classic form which in some ways resembles Tai-Chi. However, it is a self-healing practice based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Taoist philosophy and integration with the natural world. It works through a simultaneous interplay of breath, mindfulness and movement to accumulate and circulate Qi.
The practice works to discharge old stagnant energies, and replenish with nourishing fresh Qi. It cultivates self-discipline, body awareness, mental focus and integration of mind, body and spirit.
Soaring Crane Qigong
Includes: Five Routines; Standing Meditation; Crane Walking Steps,
and Seven Remedy Routines.

Soaring Crane Qigong Is a Specific Lineage…
Meaning, a trainee must learn one level before moving on to the next. For instance, earning a Practitioners Certificate for Level One in order to qualify for Level two training. And earning a 2nd Practitioner’s Certificate for Level Two before moving on to more advanced Soaring Crane practices, and/or SC Teacher Training.
The practice is very exacting…
While it may take additional practice to fully remember the specific sequences in the movements of the routines. It is required that trainees understand how to execute each of the movements. This due to the healing nature of the form, as it uses acupoints and meridians to nourish the body, and engages with the energies of the four directions, Heaven (Cosmic Light) and Earth. During the practice of the form we do more than move the body, we also move our awareness through the points and meridians, consciously with focus and deliberateness to restore and maintain, not just the body, but also the life force that flows through the body.
CONTRAINDICATION: Soaring Crane Qigong SHOULD NOT be done by anyone who is PREGNANT or is trying to become pregnant. Neither should Soaring Crane Qigong be practiced by anyone who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Kathryn Davis was trained and is certified to teach this form from OCOM, The Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. A Training Manual and Audio of the form to guide ongoing practice is available to accompany the training program. This year-long training provides 72 hours of the 200 hours needed to qualify for professional status as a Qigong teacher. Following the full program, participants will have an opportunity to register for an in-person Soaring Crane Retreat.
Movement within real-world spaciousness is required for Level Two Certification.

MODULE 1a/b
Soaring Crane Qigong – Five Routines
Training: Sept. 23 – Oct. 28, 2026 (6-Classes); Practice sets: Nov 11 – Dec. 02, 2026 (3 Sessions)
Each of the five-routines can be considered a form unto itself, with a specific purpose and potential. Collectively they represent the completion of Taoist wisdom in movement and form, with integration of the elements and the directions. As without, so within!
[M1a] Training: Sept. 23 – Oct. 28, 2026 (6-Classes)
The Five Routines enable the practitioner to gather Qi from the universe, earth, elements, and four directions for guidance through the meridians, fluids, organs, glands, etc. Providing a resource for healing all systems of the body, including circulation, organ function, balance and flexibility of the joints. Resulting in sounder sleep, less pain, fewer headaches, increased energy and reduction of physical and mental stress.
The Five Routines are:
- 1) Gathering Qi from Six Directions, (Liu Fang He He)
- 2) Penetrating the Heavens and the Earth, (Zhu Di Tong Tian)
- 3) Crane’s Head Carrying Qi through Governor Vessel and Conception Vessel, (He Shou Tong Guan)
- 4) Crane Touching Water, (Xian He Dian Shui)
- 5) Mingling with Source of All Qi, (Hun Yuan Gui Yi)
[M1b] Practice Sets: Nov 11 – Dec. 02, 2026 (3 Sessions)
Does practice make perfect? Maybe. However, what it does do, over time, is activate the body’s systems into a functioning state. It allows the body itself to carry the memory and structure of the movements, allowing awareness to let go of the mind’s constraints, to experience the Qi and Shen/heart directly.
Practice gives the body time to realign itself, shift and function as it was designed to do!
Two hours per class & sessions for total of 18 hours.

Each routine can be applied as a preventive measure, a factor for stabilizing one’s condition, or as an emergency measure at times of extreme stress or shock to the system.
Though the Remedy Routines are integral to the Soaring Crane Qigong system. This course can also be taken as an elective by folks who have some experience in Qigong or Tai-Chi, like the Qigong Self-Care program.

MODULE 4a/b
Soaring Crane Qigong – Sanding Meditation
PLUS: Additional practice and review of Soaring Crane Five-Routines, Eight Remedy Routines and Crane Walking Steps
Training: June 23 – July 28, 2027 (6 classes) Practice sets: August 11 – August 25, 2027 (3 Sessions)
The Standing Meditation of Chinese Soaring Crane Qigong is an exercise to clear the channels, balance yin and yang, regulate the function of the Qi and blood and improve health overall. Designed to enhance the therapeutic effectiveness of Soaring Crane Qigong. The Standing Meditation is taught after one learns, and practices the Five Routines for a time. This sequence allows for the trainees main points to be open and their major channels clear.
It is of the first importance that trainees be able to concentrate intensely. It is the concentration of mind that will allow the Qi in the body, to naturally follow the mind.
This practice is not appropriate for anyone who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
[M4a] Training: June 23 – July 28, 2027 (6 classes)
This training concentrates on the fundamentals of the practice. The manner in which one goes about the process. The steps and stages, meditations, movement of mind and body, etc. However the full practice cannot be taught over an internet platform, and must be engaged within the context of a real-world environment or retreat, with the teacher standing by to insure balance and safety of the trainee.
The reason for this is that the practice of Standing Meditation can reach very deep into the trainees system of mind, body and spirit. If incongruent energies release, their may be a release too strong for the trainee to be able to respond in a way that can be managed alone. Therefore, do not start this practice in its full form on your own, or from the reading of a book, or watching a video.
Once a practitioner/trainee becomes familiar with how they process the energy, and learns to go with the flow, they are usually good to proceed with the practice on their own.
The experience of the practice of Standing Meditation has been described as having a pure connection, without obstruction to one’s true state of being.
[M4b] Practice Sets: August 11 – August 25, 2027 (3 Sessions)
The practice will focus on developing an ability to concentrate the mind and move the Qi. The practice is usually gentle and calm, evoking a deep sense of peace.
However, a person may respond with spontaneous movement reflecting potential underlying health issues, emotions or hidden psychological states. The movements that occur serve to unhinge and release incongruous, stagnant energy rooted in the body, that may be at the core of current health and wellness issues
The Qi will attempt to release these hidden health issues as it opens a clear path within the flow of energy. This is the role spontaneous movements play in the process. Occasionally practitioners will experience visions or move into altered states. (Much like happens in shamanic practices of Central and South America) These are all natural responses.
CAUTION:
For safety’s sake it is highly recommended that one begin this practice in earnest under the supervision of an experienced teacher.
